Let's get started

*Please note: If you install this tutorial as a quick guide you may get a script error when trying to view the images, just click "yes" at the prompt and the images will show properly. Don't know how to install quick guides? then check out the tutorial found HERE.

  1. Open your image and get the circle selection tool, feather 0, and make a selection anywhere.   Ctrl+C to copy the selection.
  2. Add a new raster layer then paste it into the selection (ctrl+shift+L).
  3. Go to Effects->Geometric Effects->Spherize and apply strength 100.
  4. Repeat at 50
  5. Now sharpen it by going to Adjust->Sharpness->Sharpen.   You should have something like this so far:

  1. While still selected add a new raster layer then go to Selections->Modify->Select Selection Boarders and set it to outside and 10.   Flood fill with black.   Select none.
  2. Set your foreground color to black and background color to nil and get the pen tool set to create as vector, point to point, line style solid, width 2, anti-alias checked. Left click as shown below:

Once you get to point 4 click on the close contour button to close the rectangle.

  1. Now click on node 4 then go to Objects->Node Type and choose Curve Before and pull the handle out to form a curve as shown below.   You may need to zoom in to see the handles.

  1. On the layer palette click on the plus sign next to the vecter layer. Then double click on "New shape".   Check fill and change the color to black as shown below.


Convert the layer to a raster layer then merge down.   Your layer palette should look like this:

  1. Set the foreground color to white change the pen's line width to 1.   Make 4 nodes as before.   Change the fill color to white as before.

  1. Convert to a raster layer.   Go to Selection->Select all->float and apply the Blade Pro Preset.   Select none.   Then merge this layer down.   Your layer palette should again look like the above.
  2. Apply the brightcenter_gfx inner bevel preset.
  3. Give it a drop shadow to your tastes.   I used these settings:


Merge all layers and your done!
